This is a review based on initial impressions have iPad 2 for about two days. I'll update this article with a full review in a week or two.
The 'iPad 2 is a solid update on first-generation model. I'm not sure it is completely must-have upgrade for owners of previous model, but users will find new iPad fast, elegant, tablet terrifying.
Faster
Faster is one of the most important improvements Apple is touting the iPad 2. Not only the iPad 2 just feel generally faster when you use it, my testing backs up claims that Apple is the processor (1 GHz 1 GHz A4 vs. A5) and web browsers (with the new JavaScript engine) are more fast.
I tested the speed of both models uploaded a handful of complex websites. The iPad 2 speed is listed first. Speeds are in seconds.
ESPN.com: 10 vs. 18
Apple.com: 6 vs. 8
CNN.com: 9 vs 12
HoopsHype items Page: 7 vs 8
iPod.toaentertainment.com: 6 vs. 9
I also tested the speed with both models launched the applications themselves. For applications that includes the launch of new content to download the update, I counted until the new content was to download and view. Again, time is in seconds and 2 iPad is listed first.
The Battle for Wesnoth: 5 vs. 10
Marvel Comics: 3 vs 7
New York Times: 8 vs 12
Netflix: 9 vs 15
Needless to say, the test shows that Apple maintains speed significantly greater in the iPad 2 are correct and will result in a more pleasant experience for users.
The thinner
In addition to being a little 'lighter (weighs 1.33 pounds iPad 2 in the WiFi-only model and the original weighs 1.5 pounds), the body of the iPad 2 has been redesigned to be thinner and thinner.
Approximately 1 / 3 thinner than the original model, the iPad 2 fits more comfortably in your hand and feels easier to hold for long periods of time (a person who has used my model considered more difficult to keep that original, because it is smaller, some people may agree). Beyond just being thinner, the edges of the cone iPad 2 in a manner similar to the fourth-generation iPod touch, the device that gives a better feeling of brightness, lightness and style than its predecessor. In comparison, the original iPad - which is quite elegant and proper - it feels very bulky in comparison.
Another particular feature of the elegant and smooth iPad Smart Cover 2 is a screen protector that has built in magnets to attach and detach from the iPad. Simply closing the Smart Cover will the iPad 2 to sleep, while opening the trail. Features like these are the ones that, while relatively minor and do not necessarily essential, tend to make the iPad magical feel as Apple touts.
Cameras doubtful
Much has been made of the relatively low resolution of the 2 cameras to take still pictures of the iPad. Defenders countered that the cameras are designed for video and take pictures 720p HD. Although this may be true, the video quality of the iPad 2 is significantly lower at 720p videos taken from, for example, the 'iPhone 4.
Video shot with the iPad 2 is generally less true to color (the colors are darker, redder) and less detailed (pixels tend to mess with a little 'more). Video taken from the iPad 2 is much closer to that shot from the fourth-generation iPod touch, high-quality images taken by the iPhone 4.
I suspect that Apple expects iPad 2 users first use the cameras for FaceTime chat, where they should be good enough. I would not use the cameras for much more, though.
The Bottom Line
The iPad 2 is stronger than an update to the original model, but perhaps not strong enough to make it a must-have upgrade for owners of original iPad. This update makes me think of the iPhone 3G-iPhone-to-transition: nice to have, but not required. It was the iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 that were the must-have updates. I suspect that the iPad will be the case with 2012, too.

"I fell in love with it," Patrickrrules members
I have the first iPad. My friend has the iPad 2. I got to use it and fell in love with it. I'd really consider getting one. They are so fast and efficient. I did not see cons for it, but there are many pros. And 'the best tablet I've seen!
